A Pretty Bible Won't Make You Read It

I love a pretty Bible just as much as the next girl, but a pretty Bible won't make you read it. It won't make you study it. It won't make you want to spend time in God's presence. It just won't.

A pretty Bible may provide great photos for Instagram. It may look impressive at church. It may even make you keep it open, but no, it won't make you read it.

So before you invest in a coloring or illustrated Bible, here's what you need to know.

  1. Most coloring Bibles are not study Bibles. Keep this in mind because the additional information provided in study Bibles will not be illustrated Bibles.

  2. Set time to read the Bible. No matter how pretty your Bible is, if you don't make a conscious effort to study it, you won't.

  3. The markers and colored pencils available for these Bibles provide a great opportunity for memorizing scripture. By assigning a meaning to each color, you're able to divide verses by categories.

Coloring Bibles are awesome! They are a great addition to anyone's quiet time, but if you get one, make sure you actually use it- because a pretty Bible won't make you read it.
